ABOUT M/P

Hello, there! This is Yasemin Sussman, founder of Moss Project Co., a creative space in Berkeley, CA, where we share interior design projects and inspiration. I've been design-obsessed since childhood and often sketched room layouts and floor plans on graph paper or perusing magazines to create mood boards. My favorite thing to do is get lost in my neighborhood - and other communities around the world - to take in the architecture and various styles of homes. I spent six months living in Florence, Italy, where I studied art history; it was an incredibly immersive experience and truly life-changing.

After graduating with a business degree in marketing, I landed a job in the public relations world, starting in high tech and eventually transitioning to hospitality to work with restaurants and hotels. Fast-forward 12+ years, and a pandemic led me to pursue my passion for interior design. I enjoy working with physical objects: tile samples, fabric swatches, textiles, and more. I love helping people tell their stories — from a long career in public relations to telling stories about people's homes through design. 

One of our recent projects includes completely transforming our backyard and front yard, including landscape design and outdoor furnishings. We also designed a new fireplace build, including sourcing an electric fireplace and new tiles for the surround and hearth. In 2022, we renovated a former outdoor space to create a new, light-filled creative studio for our work.
